Liebherr is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of construction machinery. The company entrusted Wheelabrator with the installation of a blastroom and two paintrooms in the new factory in Rostock where they produce mobile cranes. The blastroom dimensions of 39 m length, 12 m width and 10 m height are ideal for the treatment of the big crane parts. Liebherr focuses on short maintenance times, ergonomic work and long lifetime of the components – whilst at the same time reducing energy costs. Read more - download the pdf
Shot peening of blades and blade roots
Wheelabrator Group has developed a shot peening machine for blades and blade roots to meet the increased requirements of engine parts manufacturers from the aerospace industry. Based on the rotation principle and adapted to the special requirements for the aerospace industry, this machine allows for the workpieces to be loaded outside of the chamber within a certain period of time, whilst the blasting process continues inside of the blast chamber. Composite rotar blade paint removal
“We previously performed this function with orbital sanding machines, but these were quite slow and laborious so absorbed a lot of man-hours. Where it could take up to a whole day to strip one blade, the blastroom finishes the job in a little over two hours. We’re extremely pleased with our purchase and after specialist training have already seen our production efficiency increase."
