Wheelabrator offers two distinct categories of Tumblast or tumble blast machine. Batch Type Tumblast machines process parts batch by batch, in a stop-start operation, and Continuous Tumblast machines pass the parts through the machine and onto the next process in the operation. The following applications can be undertaken:
• Desanding and decoring of castings
• Descaling of castings, forgings and heat treated parts
• Shot peening (without process security)
• Deburring of plastic and rubber parts
Batch Type Tumblast machines are used for bulk, tumble proof material. The product range includes a comprehensive range of machines for desanding and decoring castings and for descaling forgings or heat-treated workpieces. The workpieces are continuously tumbled during the blasting process. Wheelabrator’s expertise in this field enables the development of customised solutions which can include automatic loading/unloading of workpieces and removal of abrasive residues from the part.
Continuous Tumblast machines (CT) treat the same parts but are situated within either an automated process or a continuous production line. The advantages of this being high performance rates, less or no human contact with parts, and a more speedy, complete process for the parts.
Continuous Rocker Barrel (DT) machines are designed for high performance in-line cleaning of castings and forged parts. To satisfy production requirements ranging from less than 5 tonnes/hr to over 25 tonnes/hr, a variety of machine sizes are available with blast capacities selected to match the specific cleaning requirement.
