For large volumes of smaller size blades, Wheelabrator has numerous proven installations of indexing style machines. In such machines, peening is carried out using metallic media such as steel shot and cut wire. Indexing tables typically process atleast two root sections simultaneously to ensure that the machine keeps up with production rate requirements.
A multi-axis nozzle manipulator, complete with servo-based controls ensures that the nozzle(s) follows the root profile, thereby ensuring a constant stand-off distance. This could be critical in ensuring consistent peening results.
