External surface blasting of tubular products; pipe, bar, rod and cylindrical tanks can be processed effectively with the skew roll material handling system. This style of work conveyor provides axial rotation under the wheel blast unit(s) and longitudinal motion for the part to pass through the equipment. Cleaning speeds will vary depending on the condition of the unblasted product surface and abrasive type, velocity and flow rate in the wheel system. These skew roll machines are equipped with appropriate vestibule seals to accommodate the different diameter work being processed. Systems can be equipped with automated load and unload/transfer conveyors. The quick removal of rust and scale contaminants from the tubular steel OD surface leaves a clean, etched or profiled surface for the next operation. This blasted surface condition provides the best surface for welding and the application of long lasting corrosion resistant coating.
