Wheelabrator Casts Spells Over GIFA, Major International Foundry Exhibition
Burlington, Ontario – (June 20, 2007) – World leading designer and manufacturer of surface preparation equipment, Wheelabrator Group, is causing temperatures to soar in the global foundry industry after casting a spell over delegates at this year’s GIFA international trade fair in Dűsseldorf, Germany.
Featuring six themed areas dedicated to iron and aluminum foundries, forge shops and the automotive, transportation and power generation industries, the impressive 62-by-45-foot booth with mezzanine floor definitely pulled in the crowds. The Wheelabrator team ran a smooth operation, and the exhibition was highly successful as the company beat its set targets of 400 qualified leads and identifying more than $13 million in new project potential.
The booth highlight was the launch of the new generation Wheelabrator® TITAN turbine, a new blast wheel that can be adapted to fit virtually any wheel blast machine. This versatile turbine was designed to enhance performance, reduce maintenance time, cut production cost and improve efficiency by up to 30 percent.
Another main booth feature was a 24-by-19-foot wide section of a spinner hanger blast machine for seven ton castings, which is being built for a power generation application. This “small” section of what will be a huge machine incorporates four heavy duty, curved vane blast turbines and allowed visitors a closer look at the internal heavy-duty manufacturing standards of a foundry-specification blast machine. The power generation project, which is being built for a new foundry in India, includes two bigger blast machines designed to handle castings of 15 and 30 tons.
International award-winning close-up magician, Phil Jay, who entertained guests with a range of magic tricks, captivated visitors to the stand by cleverly linking the company’s key attributes. All visitors went away with a greater insight into Wheelabrator technology and cost effective solutions, as part of the Wheelabrator magic!
Exhibition delegates also had the opportunity to learn about the Wheelabrator Equipment Modernization Programs (EMP). Foundry industry customers continue to recognize the benefits of incorporating the latest technology into their existing machinery to gain considerable savings in time and money, rather than spending money on new equipment. Wheelabrator engineers and managers said they were pleased with the show turnout.
Wheelabrator employees’ technical expertise and extensive experience in the global foundry industry continues to serve customers throughout the world with an expanded focus on developing markets in Asia and Eastern Europe. Key personnel from Wheelabrator teams across the world, including the UK, Canada, USA, Asia, Spain, Germany, Italy and France, were present at the GIFA booth, as well as key members of the company’s aftermarket support and service division, Wheelabrator Plus.
