Tilghman wheelblast machines were made in the UK since the middle of the 20th century – initially under the Tilghman Wheelabrator name and later often as Tilghman/Spencer. Its heavy-duty machines were popular in the forge and foundry industry, domestically and globally.
To this day, the Wheelabrator HQ continues at the site of the original Tilghman Sandblast Company that set up shop in Altrincham, Greater Manchester, in the late 1900s. Since 2008, the name Tilghman has gradually been phased out. Most machines still bearing the name Tilghman are decades old.
