Delivering critical shot peening processes, faster

Nadcap accreditation for subcontract shot peening facility in France

Our specialist aerospace shot peening team at Wheelabrator Impact has expanded its capabilities in France to offer Nadcap-accredited shot peening services in Europe.

Supporting OEMs and MROs in Europe

Until now, all aerospace shot peening had been performed at Wheelabrator Impact’s high-tech facility in Slough, UK. The team there supports Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers and has customer approvals from Airbus, BAE Systems, Boeing, Bombardier, Safran, Lufthansa Technik and more.

A second high-spec shot peening facility in Northern France has now received Nadcap accreditation to meet growing demand from both OEMs and MROs and simplify logistics for European customers. It’s strategically located in Charleville-Mézières, in the Champagne region, and co-located with our technology center for airblast peening equipment.

“Having a second Nadcap-accredited site at such a strategic location in Europe enables us to deliver critical shot peening processes faster. It’ll help aerospace suppliers keep up with rapid growth as the industry works through its backlog of new aircraft. It’s what our customers have been waiting for.” - Yves Dufour, Senior Vice President Global Air at Wheelabrator

Meeting exacting aerospace specifications

The Charleville site is equipped with the latest robotic shot peening equipment, enabling greater repeatability and accuracy efficiently while delivering exceptional shot peening standards. Typical aircraft structural parts include engine pylons, wing ribs, gear ribs, pins and aerospace springs.

The state-of-the-art facility also features an on-site laboratory and has a long track-record of delivering shot peening services to the automotive industry. The Nadcap accreditation, awarded in May 2025, was the result of 18 months’ work to adapt the facility’s processes to the exacting demands of aerospace specifications.

More on the horizon

Yves concludes: “We’re reaching this major milestone at a critical moment for the aerospace industry. I’m excited about the difference it’ll make to our customers. But I also can’t wait to share our plans for additional services we will be able to deliver from two strong bases and with one great team of experts.”
